The beaches are some of the best in the country and return some of the most popular species of fish whether it be for sport or for your dining pleasure. We are blessed in the Eastern Bay of Plenty to have long white sandy beaches that are all accessible for fishing from the shore.

Big Game fishing is also available from a number of local charter boats.

Diving

White Island is the favourite dive destination in the Bay of Plenty region. White Island is some 50 kilometres off shore from Whakatane and lies 8km west of the White Island trench which reaches depths of up to 1219 metres. This fascinating place is brushed by the warm waters of an offshore current and offers exciting dives from pinnacles with 150 metre drop offs to cruisy reef dives.
